I realize the posts have been pretty scarce around here, but the holidays are nearly at our doorstep, and we're all busy shopping and so forth -- or else sick in bed. Some of us at the library have been getting over colds. I had a nasty cold on Thanksgiving Day (boohoo), and I'm just now getting over another one.

I've been meaning to thank everyone who's been supportive of our library blog (it's been a little over a year now). It's pretty amazing when a library patron or a fellow co-worker says, "Hey, I read your post."

Early on I was taken aback, "You did?"

And I recall writing the words, "I'll post to this blog even if nobody pays a lick of attention," and getting an e-mail in response that read, "We're paying attention." (It was like something straight out of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials series.)

Though I will continue to put my fingers on this keyboard no matter the circumstances -- one of my very favorite writers, Natalie Goldberg, encourages us to "Continue under all circumstances" -- having such a lovely audience makes for a richer blogging experience. So thanks again, dear friends, for your kind support.

Happy holidays!
